One of the reasons why Holmes loves a good concert is that he can close his eyes and let the emotion of the music flood into him and direct his own emotion. Watson does something very similar for him, and all the better that Holmes can tease and toy with him to get the emotion he wants. If that makes him a devil, then so be it.
