Having a sudden obstacle between himself and Watson shouldn't be so pleasant, but he's rather happy to find Nell settling down with them. Her warm friendliness quite infectious, and all this good cheer and tenderness is restorative. He chuckles and strokes Nell's back, ruffling her fur.

"By all means, have a seat," he says smiling; Nell looks up at him as he speaks and thumps her tail harder against the sofa. "One can hardly blame her for wanting to join us. I'm sure we looked quite cozy," he says with a tender smile for Watson.
