"I wrapped the wound and stopped the bleeding," he returns testily, and he looks away darkly; he's already in a bad mood, over being sick and hurt and a failure, and remembering how a criminal not only got away from him, but got a stab in too, doesn't help. "It isn't as if I stabbed myself."

He helps Watson with his trousers, still not particularly interested in fighting Watson, just as he isn't particularly interested in being sick, or in getting better.
